Stayin' Alive

Heard on the radio yesterday that playing the BeeGees song "Stayin Alive" during CPR is beneficial because the beat is pert near perfect for timing of compressions.
I could just see it - in ERs and ICUs everywhere, the strains of the BeeGees in the background. At least until there is a workers comp case or two for mental distress.
Back in the 70s it was Yankee Doodle. Not sure which one I prefer.

Oh - and while looking around for stuff about this - there's a comment by Tex at Guitar Girl RN where he is already rewriting the lyrics -

'Well, you can tell by the way I CPR,
I compress real well, I'm a Superstar....."

now I can totally get behind that!

Personally, I think that song would bolster my will to live. I mean, I don't want the last thing I hear in my life be that insidious Bee Gees song!

Oh great, now it's stuck in my head. Ah ha ha ha stayin' aliiiiiiiiiiiive ...

Ah yes, happy to be of service. Now if pressed into service saving someone's life, you'll thank me.
That is, if you can keep the pointer finger on the chest instead of in the air...

What they didn't tell you is the other song that works too... "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen

ironic huh?

Yeah, Michelle - I heard that too. Somehow I just can't imagine humming that one while doing compressions though. Well, maybe if there are no family members around!!
